Contrary to popular belief, this title is, in fact, a giraffe.
Edited due to double post
Thesis:Although Burger King flaunts its serving size as a positive selling point, the company conveniently forgets to mention what this size could do to one’s body, the quality of the meat, and how it is able to produce this huge burger at such a modest price.
Body Paragraph:
While showing off its superior serving size in the selected advertisement, Burger King conveniently forgets to display the possible (and somewhat obvious) side effects of consuming a burger of that size. According to Lisa Young, “Increases in the portion sizes of foods commonly eaten away from home have occurred in parallel with increases in body weights, and constitute an important contributing factor to rising rates of obesity.” Quite obviously, the large Whopper in the Burger King advertisement is no exception to Young’s findings; however, Burger King tricks consumers into believing that this increase in size is a superior quality by touting it as an advantage against its competitor, McDonalds. These befuddled consumers, believing that they are purchasing a superior product, increase their own size by purchasing these oversized sandwiches and plague themselves with an ensemble of health problems such as “type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, coronary heart disease, and certain cancers as well as premature death” (Young). These immense serving sizes are so hazardous, that McDonalds was forced to discontinue its “Super Size” after Morgan Spurlock’s Super Size Me! disclosed all the health problems that large serving sizes cause.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know McDonalds was forced to discontinue their super size after the movie came out! Thats nice to know. Both your body paragraph and thesis flow so well with one another and they have a nice fluid feeling. I'm sure the rest of your paper is just as smooth and interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think your blog about Burger King was very interesting.
ReplyDeletePeople could have learned alot from reading your blog about burger king the one thing that i learn is that they do not really tell you the side effect from eating an super size meal.
I like how you explain the different type of effect on ordering an super size meal could have on a person body.
Your thesis statement is well done, It is letting me know what your paper will be about, it gets the reader hooked.
ReplyDeleteYour body paragraph hits real life problems in the world, and you introduce these problems with the ad you have printed out. you do not sway off topic which is well done
