Although Burger King Advertisements for the “BK super seven incher” may look appealing; however it is harming the young girls that are being targeted by these sexual ads. Also Burger King is negatively effecting teens because within these seven inchers are tons of high fat calories which if eaten regularly turns into obesity.

Fast food companies like Burger King are out to get teenagers. Companies all over the world target teens and children because they think it’s a better marketing strategy. Targeting to children is wrong. Companies use bright colors and popular stars and music to attract the youth of America to these potentially harmful products. Fast food companies like burger king target children with the BK kids’ meals that contains a tiny toy of the latest new fad. Companies feel that children are a good market because they are still too young to care about the amount of fat in the food. If they hook the kids they will have to have their parents bring them which also will bring in money and customers. Burger King is now not only attracting teens and young children with flashy ads but they also have the play area in the front which can draw kids in from the street. Another way fast food companies are trying to hook children and teens to their products is online. Burger King has a game website for teenagers to play on and interact with “the King” and his friends. Now companies not only target on television or but in magazines but also online. It is not just websites about the fast food companies that have ads targeting teens but also ones that are centered on teenagers like social networks. “Food and beverage companies such as Coca-Cola, Kraft, Pepsi, and Taco Bell are among the pioneers of this new marketing strategy, which is designed to take advantage of the network of relationships and connections individuals have with each other on Facebook, MySpace and other social networking sites” (Montgomery). BK uses places like the internet or popular magazines like cosmopolitan to target teenagers.

I agree with your statement that this ad targets teenagers. I dont not think it was a good idea to make this ad so sexual, because it is not appropriate for the public eye. Personally i agree with the fact that when I was younger I didn't care too much about the fat in food and that is why i was so vulnerable for eating these types of food.
ReplyDeleteI thought your thesis and body paragraph were very interesting and put a lot of ties together. You made a lot of sense when discussing who the targeted audience were and why. I thought you did a really good job in defending your argument.
